I feel like starting with such a clean surface is cheating! 
I do miss wood. 
But I don’t miss making bamboo look like it isn’t; As seen in photo 2. (Customer was fixated on using that substrate vs paint grade.  Glazed for days 🥳)

We all know there’s a crossover between the automotive painting and wood finishing worlds. 
Finally venturing into the other side for this next project. 
Thankful for the guys at API in Eugene for the match and advice. 
On a side note: for the
First formula, no adjustments, no sample material, under 2 min to match- went for it. Constantly challenging myself to do this faster and with the same accuracy. Obviously much easier on these basic colors but still satisfying.
My new least favorite match ;) 
My motto is, “anything is possible”, and sometimes I wish it wasn’t. 
This is an opaque stain on rough cedar with a flat 1k topcoat. Sealed with shellac to prevent tannin bleed.

First batch of “shipped” samples. Didn’t go very far- still in OR, still happy about it. 

Brian of @bfree_woodworking was one of my first coworkers in this field and this will be our first collaboration as “independent”
Never been more pleased watching stain dry. First time I’ve been asked to match a paint color and I’m happy.
